Graduated from the Gorky Polytechnical Institute in 1965. Radioengineer. Ph.D. in physics and mathematics in 1977. Topic: "Problems of generation and application of a mode-locked neodymium glass laser" (headed by Prof. Victor I.Bespalov)

Lasers with high-quality radiation, nonlinear optics, diagnostics of fast processes, and nanoscale laser modification of materials
